With Sander van Doorn, Lindstrom live and Roni Size&Dynamite MC added to the list of Sound performers, this year’s line-up is almost complete. The organizers have also disclosed that all Sound passes have been sold, and that the list of venues will be extended.

Buying a day pass, a combination pass or a VIP pass are the only options left for those who don’t want to miss out on MasterCard Balaton Sound this year, as regular passes have sold out, announced the organizers five weeks before the festival kick-off. Only one of the couple thousand remaining day passes or a combination pass, also granting entry to VOLT Festival or B.My.Lake, will get you into Sound, once again shaping up to be a full-house event.

At the same time, news of three new acts joining the Sound line-up have also been released. Dutch trance DJ and producer Sander van Doorn, who is the recipient of countless prestigious awards and an international favourite among Hungarian party crowds, will be added to the already impressive list. Norway will delegate electronic artist, DJ and producer Lindstrom, who has achieved cult status with his imaginative, versatile, surprising but definitely entertaining space disco tunes. DJ-producer extraordinaire and international drum ‘n’ bass icon Roni Size will also pop in along with his old comrade Dynamite, arguably the most highly sought after MC on the drum ‘n’ bass scene.

On Wednesday, 9 July Day 0 will be held for pass holders exclusively. Artists like the newly announced Sander van Doorn or Hard Rock Sofa will get the ball rolling on the Jägermeister Arena stage. No day passes will be sold for this day.

The final schedule of the 2014 MasterCard Balaton Sound is slowly taking shape, and the detailed schedule is available at www.balatonsound.hu as of 4 June.

Sound expansion – a map will come in handy

As Balaton Sound draws more and more visitors every year, the organizers have decided that it is time to expand the festival grounds. The sections of the shore previously used for putting up campers will be converted into a space for party venues and stages, but have no fear because a new and enlarged camping area will be set up elsewhere. “The main locations will all be moved, the audience space of the MasterCard main stage will be expanded, while the Party Arena, the Telekom Terrace and the open-air stage, this year sponsored by Jägermeister for the first time, will be relocated,” said leading organizer Zoltán Fülöp, adding that a map will come in handy, as our old favourites will be moved to entirely new locations. “To help festivalgoers out, we will soon put up a map showing all the venues on the official Sound website,” explained Norbert Lobenwein, also a leading organizer of the event.

Nagyon Balaton Gastro Garden

It has already been disclosed that Sound will be incorporated into the exciting Nagyon Balaton (Very Balaton) event series this year. As a result, the Wine Village, known from previous years, transformed and renamed: the Nagyon Balaton Gastro Garden will host the best restaurants, bakeries and wineries of the Balaton region. Gastro magazine Magyar Konyha (Hungarian Kitchen/Cuisine) will serve as the trade partner of the event, with a number of catering establishments included in its soon to be released publication “Balaton 2014” setting up camp at the Zamárdi free-entry beach. Balaton Circle, a professional organization founded by leading wineries in the Balaton area, has also joined the initiative, showcasing wines produced by several of its members in the Gastro Garden.

Sound accommodation

New camping sites offering a versatile range of services have been created for this year’s festival. Some of them will operate on a “bring your own tent” basis, while festivalgoers wishing to avoid the hassle that comes with setting up a tent will have camping grounds with pre-pitched tents at their disposal. For those who cannot do without a soft and comfortable bed but don’t have their own caravan, the Caravan Camping is the perfect choice. Compared to tents, the VIP bungalows provide a unique experience, as they are equipped with all the basics for a comfortable stay. A designated area will be cordoned off for those arriving to Sound by caravan. For further information on accommodation visit http://www.sziget.hu/balatonsound/info/szallas.
