Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Paul Oakenfold, Fat Boy Slim, John Digweed and Danny Tenaglia. They have at least one thing in common: they have all made inerasable marks in the imaginary history book of electronic dance music. Out of all of them, the American Tenaglia is the most elusive when it comes to live shows. However, this August the legendary New York DJ will kick off B.my.Lake Festival with a grand all night long launch party.
The Grammy nominated musician was born in Brooklyn in March 1961. It was in 1985 that he first stood behind the decks at the Cheers club in Miami, remaining there for the next five years to educate the crowds with the latest house records. He then moved back to New York and started his inspiring DJ career. He made tons of remixes for the biggest names in music (Madonna, Janet Jackson, Grace Jones, Kim Mazelle, Bette Middler, Cher, Pet Shop Boys, Blondie), released his own album (Hard & Soul) and became a regular at such historic clubs as Roxy and Twilo.
His evergreen hit, “Music Is The Answer” came out in 1998, followed by a host of Global Underground releases and mix albums as well as “Give Your Body Up To The Music”, which earned Tenaglia a Grammy nomination. We could go on forever listing his achievement and legendary party series. A couple of years ago rumours were circulating about him retiring, but in 2013 the Safehouse management took him under their wings, which was a clear sign for the fans that the veteran DJ would carry on.
