It will be worth popping down to Balatonföldvár this Saturday because there’s going to be not one, but two splendid programs to check out there: the finals of the beach water polo championship and the Balaton Fishing Day.

This year’s beach water polo championship consists of five rounds, all of which will be organized at various locations all over the country. The championship finals will take place in Balatonföldvár on 12 July, with two-time Olympic champion water polo player Rajmund Fodor serving as the patron of the tournament. Matches are scheduled between 9:00 and 16:00, and the event will be hosted by Márton Buda and Gábor Baronits.

The aim of the 3rd Balaton Fishing Day is to showcase the traditions and customs of one of the oldest trades connected to Lake Balaton. Organized by Balatoni Halgazdálkodási Nonprofit Zrt. (Balaton Fisheries Management Non-Profit Ltd) and Balatonföldvári Kistérségi Turisztikai Egyesület (Association of the Balatonföldvár Sub-region Tourism Industry), the Balaton Fishing Day will feature events all about fish and fishing. Visitors will not only have the chance to view a bunch of fishing-related demonstrations from the shore, but they will also be able to check out a real fishkeeper’s boat on the lake. Animation programs, presentations and special gastronomic treats all day long with fish and fishing in the spotlight. Various fish delicacies will be on offer at the mobile fried fish stand of the Balaton Fisheries Management Non-Profit Ltd on Keleti beach.
