Music stopped at 6 am on 22 August in Balatonvilágos at B.my.Lake Festival, organized for the second time by VOLT Produkció and Deadcode Produkció in the framework of the Nagyon Balaton event series. Around 40,000 young electronic music buffs attended the festival at the Club Aliga Üdülőközpont.

At the beginning of the year B.my.Lake won the “Best New European Festival” award in the Dutch city of Groningen at the most prestigious awards show called the European Festival Awards.

The organizers, VOLT Produkció and Deadcode Produkció, released this year’s schedule bit by bit, making it apparent that the festival in 2014 would have a much stronger line-up, and more emphasis would be placed on visual presentation, decoration, stage equipment and gastronomic delights.

Expanded into a four-day event this year, more than 130 DJs played on the seven B.my.Lake stages for 96 hours straight to entertain the fans of techno, tech-house, minimal, electro, dnb and dubstep – it seems the event has exceeded all “expectations”. The electronic music festival drew almost 40,000 festivalgoers to Balatonvilágos, a fifth of them arrived from abroad to Club Aliga Üdülőközpont, the venue of the festival.

Thanks to the well-coordinated efforts of a pro team, not only did the festival feature the best of the best from all genres, but it also proved that there is legitimacy in Hungary for a niche-filling “underground” music festival, which has been long awaited by all e-music enthusiasts.

“For days we have been receiving hundreds of thank you letters and uniformly positive feedback on our social media platforms, and we are happy to note that B.my.Lake will be remembered by the audience as the “best four days of the summer”. It is good to read that people who attended this year will be sure to return next year as well,” said leader of VOLT Produkció and main organizer Zoltán Fülöp.

“Our greatest success is that in its second year B.my.Lake earned the distinction of being among the Best European Festivals. This is the beginning of a series of successes, no doubt,” said Ákos Kiss, the head of Dead Production.

The Festival got off to a bit of a rocky start: a day before kick-off Danny Tenaglia cancelled his all-night performance due to an ear infection, setting quite the challenge for the organizers. Finding a similarly popular DJ at the very last minute was no easy task. But within less than 24 hours the organizers managed to put one of the most well known DJs in the world on the B.my.Lake main stage: on 18 August a private jet dropped Sasha off in Balatonvilágos. Those who gave Day 0 their vote of confidence were not disappointed, as out of the sets Sasha has played in Hungary in recent years this one on B-Stage, the main stage of the festival, was definitely the best.

Starting from 19 August, all events were held according to schedule – the only holdup being that the plane of DJ W!LD was a couple of hours late, but he eventually went on after Levon Vincent on “my Stage”. Even heavy rain and strong winds were not enough to deter the B.my.Lake audience – the romantic festival grounds on the historic beach of Balatonvilágos filled with music lovers coming to enjoy great sets day after day for four days. There was no one who couldn’t find something close to their heart among the myriad of genres and active and passive recreational activities.
