Zagar and Kelemen Kabátban visit Veszprém, and we say goodbye to an important exhibition and a popular culture venue. You can explore the world of stars in the frame of the Researchers' Night, celebrate St Michael's Day, and visit gourmet and co. in Vonyarcvashegy.

FRIDAY

Harvest Festivals – Paloznak, Szigliget (26-28/09)

After their hiatus last week, harvest festivals return in full force, but we wouldn't be surprised if they blended into the celebration of St Michael, who defeated even Lucifer. Instead of the Wine and Picnic,  Paloznak celebrates its village days this week with operetta and goulash. In Szigliget headliners include the local bar tender (serving wine at the parade) and local women (handing out scones), plus the Kelet Fénye (Oriental Light) Belly Dance Group.

Mihály Munkácsy  and Hungarian realism - Tihany (10/07 - 28/09)

We've already discussed the wonderful KOGART Museum (Tihany) in detail, so we just wanted to let you know that the Munkácsy exhibition closes on Sunday. This weekend you still have time to dive headfirst into the Hungarian realism of the end of the 19th century.

Kultkikötő - Balatonföldvár (14/06 - 28/09)

We are disappointed to announce that the Kultkikötő in Balatonföldvár also takes a break: the last show is on Sunday. Its September run has been limited to children's puppet theatre shows, which will end on the same note on Sunday at 11 AM:

SATURDAY

St Michael's Day - Alsóörs, Veszprém, Balatongyörök and Vonyarcvashegy (27-28/09)

St Michael's Day falls on 29 September, starting the "Kisfarsang" festivities, which in turn brings along a row of autumn weddings. We aren't sure about the popularity of autumn weddings these days, but we know St Michael's won't pass unnoticed at Lake Balaton. Alsóörs, VeszprémBalatongyörök and Vonyarcvashegy will definitely celebrate. The programme revolves around the folk dance-scones-wine-choirs axis, so don't expect hiphop concerts here.

Pumpkin Festival - Balatonalmádi (27/09)

The advanced West lags at least a month behind the Balaton: it's not nearly Halloween, but here tons of pumpkins are used in ways that might be unimaginable in the sweets-frenzy there. Almádi promises pumpkin syrup and pumpkin cookies, plus a variety of pumpkin specialities, Pumpkin up!

Zagar, Kelemen Kabátban - Veszprém (27/09)

It's not like Kelemen was unable to fill a club alone, but now Zagar accompanies him to a night at Veszprém. This is going to be like a Daft Punk + Outkast show, but the strange mixture of styles might just prove to be explosive.

Astronomers' Night - Bakonybél (27/09)

We are sending you about 50 km far from the Lake, but you won't regret it. In the frame of Researchers' Night, you can be part of a premium planetarium experience, check out Mars and Saturn, and discuss the Moon landing. The budget Star Trek voyage costs 1500 HUF.

September's Great Zenit Tasting - Vonyarcvashegy (27/09)

So this is what gourmets do at Lake Balaton in the autumn. The Zenit Hotel (the one to which Bock Bistro Balaton moved in) hosts a 5-flight wine tasting from the best Zenit wines this weekend, with the professional assistance of the Badacsony Research Institute.
