FRIDAY
Wine tasting nights at Kredenc: Bujdosó Winery - Balatonfüred (12 Dec)
The Bujdosó family is known for three different reasons: they do not deny the close correlation between sailing and wine, in addition to Kistücsök, they make Balatonszemes a must-visit, and they support the lifeguards with their wine, Mentős. These three provide enough grounds for a great chat, and we believe that the owner of Kredenc, András Dobai will have no problem with them either, and their wines are easily likeable.
Traditional pig-slaughter in Köveskál (12-14 Dec)
Two weeks ago, the Káli Art Inn and Miakő already held a conversationalist pig slaughter, now it's time for the second act. The system and the program are unchanged, and there are promises that the dinner would be as heavenly as last time. This time though, you need not book your stay at the Art Inn, you can opt to participate in the Saturday pig slaughter part only.
SATURDAY
Krtek Exhibition - Balatonfüred (11 Nov - 13 Dec)
We - perhaps uncharacteristically of us - repeatedly recommended you to go and see the last Czechoslovakian citizen of the world, so we won't do it again after today. Krtek will stay in Balatonfüred until Saturday, then he'll dig his way back to the north, whence he arrived.
The joint channelling of Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin on Friday, the Purple Zeppelin Jam might be a great warm-up to what's awaiting you on Saturday. Then comes Bori Péterfy, who'll probably conquer the City of Queens with the energy she projected at Strand Festival. We wouldn't bet that the body surfing part of her act will be repeated, but she'll surely sing you her best songs.
Christmas playhouse - Tihany (13 Dec)
If you want your kid to have fun in the weekend, the interactive lavender centre is your place to go. The Levendula Ház awaits everyone between 10 AM and 3 PM on Saturday with handicraft fun and Christmas preparations. The place is brimming with lavender, but lacks kitchen accessories, so only those get a mug of free tea who bring their favourite mug with them.
Illés 50 - Veszprém (13 Dec.)
After the Friday warm-up in Hévíz, the Veszprém Arena will not be filled exclusively with handball fans on Saturday, but people celebrating the 50th birthday of Illés. About 40 years ago, such a concert would have been a huge bang like a Beatles concert in Hyde Park. Today, the Beatles could only be "reunited" in the person of Paul McCartney for a solo concert, while the Illés unfortunately has only 3 of his original members still. SO let Hungarian beat music flow, so the younger generations get a wind of what the hype used to be about for their parents' generations.
SUNDAY
Advent fairs
We are nearly in the finishing straight for Christmas: the third Sunday of Advent is coming right up. The mulled wine is probably ready for consumption everywhere, and we would be shocked to hear that there were chimney cake supply problems. This weekend in Kéthely, the Austrian-owned Ax&Ax Winery hosts its own fair with a gospel choir, pony riding and Kéthely kids. Meanwhile in Gyenesdiás a fair named chestnut roast joins the row of Advent fairs, which we have already discussed in detail, because it's clear that the candle lighting is not the most exciting part of the Advent.
