Százszorszép handicraft workshops - Siófok (9 - 31 Jan)
After the Advent preparations, the Százszorszép handicraft workshops at the Chidlren's Department of the SIófok City Library continue throughout January. You can practice beading on 9 January and enjoy Penguin Days n 16 and 17 January. Try your hand at creating funny faces of yarn, twigs and buttons on 23 January, and at glass painting on the last weekend of the month (30-31 January). It's all family fun!
Wine dinner with the Szeremley Winery - Vonyarcvashegy (10 Jan)
This year's first compulsory program for gastro fans! You can taste Huba Szeremley's wines and harmonising dishes on Saturday, 10 January at Vonyarcvashegy's Zenit Hotel Balaton. The menu is the creation of István Ács, chef of Bock Bistro Balaton: it includes pork, zander and venison, plus a rétes spruced up with poppy seed, to go with the wines by Huba Szeremley. Last, but not least, you can also enjoy a guided tour of the Festetics Helikon Taverna in the frame of this Saturday evening extraordinaire.
Mátyás Pribojszki Band at Lógó Üveg - Siófok (10 Jan)
The newest all-year-round pub, Lógó Üveg welcomes the widely travelled Mátyás Pribojszki and band on 10 January. The Mátyás Pribojszki Band plays the happy kind of blues with a bit of jazz and groove thrown in for good measure and some funky vibes to cheer up cold, winter days. This Saturday night, therefore, arrives with beer specialities, funky blues and dance to Lógó Üveg near the water tower of Siófok.
Félix Lajkó Marathon - Veszprém (17 Jan)
The violin virtuoso, who has conquered Europe, Tokyo and New York, Félix Lajkó will play at Veszprém's Hangvilla. He was but a high schooler when he left Subotica for Budapest and joined the Dresch Quartet, starting a musical career that has since seen cooperations with stars like the popular Serbian trumpeteer, Boban Marković. His free improvisations are inspired by folk music, blues and jazz, and, in addition to his violin, he plays the zyther and the piano impeccably - not to mention his whistling. To witness this instinctual mixture of music and spirit, visit the Lajkó Matahon at Hangvilla on Saturday, 17 January. This concert apropos the 40th birthday of the artist features pianist János Balázs.
Abstract Reality - Tihany (05/Oct/2014 - 25/Jan/2015)
The exhibition titled Abstract Reality introduces the main directions of European avant-garde graphic arts through 70 artworks from 2 private collections at the KOGART art gallery in Tihany. The twice extended exhibition closes on 25 January, so hurry up if you wish to see graphic artworks by Chagall, Miró, Picasso, and the Hungarian-born Vasarely.
