Chapters from Hungarian Romantic Painting - Tihany (29 March – 28 June)

The spring exhibition of the KOGART Gallery in Tihany consists of 30 paintings of historical events and landscapes (as characteristic of the Romantic period) by the greatest of Romantic Hungarian painters, like Bertalan Székely, Viktor Madarász, Gyula Benczúr and Antal Ligeti. Genre painting is represented by a rare pendant pair by József Borsos, from Gábor Kovács's private collection.

MKB-MVM Veszprém - Paris Saint-Germain - Champions League quarter finals (19 April)

The MKB-MVM Veszprém takes on Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter finals of the men's handball Champions League, after a 28 - 28 draw at the first game. The rematch takes place at the Veszprém Arena on 19 April, and the winner heads on to the Final Four.

Jásdi wine dinner at Bistro Sparhelt - Balatonfüred (17 April)

Balázs Elek,
chef of the reborn Bistro Sparhelt created a promising menu to go with the wine specialities by Csopak's Jásdi Pince. Sushi, ramson, asparagus, beetroot ravioli and sloe jam with charcoal powdered camembert and green walnut - all that fans of new wave gastronomy desire in the spring, right on the same menu. Then there are the Jásdi wines: Pinot gris, Furmint, Lőczedombi Welschriesling, Siralomvágó Welschriesling, Cabernet Franc – Merlot and Ranholder Cabernet Franc.

Critical Mass bicycle rally in Veszprém (18 April)

In Hungary, the critical (cyclist) mass rallies twice a year
, on Earth Day and on the European Car-free Day to promote urban commuting by bike. The movement started in San Francisco in 1992 and has spread worldwide since. The apolitical event is secured by the police, so every participant will be safe on this urban trek. Meet-up at 15:30 in Dózsa György Square, but you can join in anytime along the route

Earth Day: the birds of Kis-Balaton - Balatonmagyaród (22 April)

On occasion of Earth Day (22 April), the Balaton-felvidéki National Park invites you to a walk along the 2-km Búbos Vöcsök Tanösvény/Great Crested Grebe Study Trail. A guide will introduce participants to the flora and fauna of the Kis-Balaton. Participation is free, but advance registration is required.

Kecskeköröm Festival by the Belső-tó in Tihany (24-26 April)

There will be a weekend-long season opening festival in Tihany, with the legend-generating goat's hooves and the echo in focus. The fun begins with an exhibition opening on Friday, while Saturday brings a stew cooking contest, a soccer cup, a dog pageant, dance, campfies and an echo test, and you can enjoy the Spring Folk Music Meet-up and Dance on Sunday.

Punnany Massif - Veszprém (24 April)

This hip-hop band, originally from Pécs, continues to give sold out concerts countrywide and boasted of the largest and happiest audience of the 2014 festival season even in spite of the pouring rain. Punnany Massif released 2 studio albums and 3 EPs so far, the last being FEL #2 (2015). Expect their very best at their concert in Veszprém's Expresszó.

16. Balatonkör -Around the Lake bike tour – Zamárdi (25 April)

The 16th Balatonkör bike tour on 4 distances starts out from Zamárdi. The heroes of the 206-km Balaton loop depart at 6 in the morning, the participants of the 76-km distance leave at 10 AM, while the Family loop begins at 1 PM. The latter also touches the Zamárdi Adventure Park, where the participants are entitled to 15% discount. The shortest loop to ride is 6 km, it starts at 11 AM and is recommended for families and kids.

10. Lotus Retro – Concours d’Elegance - Hévíz (25-26 April)

The veteran car show Lotus Retro – Concours d’Elegance will now be held for the 10th time in the 17-acre park of Hévíz's Lotus Therme Hotel. The event will feature entertainment for all, test drives and of course veteran car wonders, plus a parade of those wonders between Hévíz and Keszthely on Saturday.

Mount Everest hiking series - Balatonalmádi (25 April)

The Mount Everest hiking series focuses on touring local attractions and greens on a distance equal to the height of Mount Everest, 8850 metres. Promoters provide a detailed map for the night tour. The elevation is only 150 metres, the time limit is 3.5 hours.
