Our talented Balaton photographers series will not be swept away by the winds of fall. Just when you thought there’s nothing beyond the lavender festival, aerial photos and long-exposure images of beachgoers, here’s a photo enthusiast who’s more touched by the peace of the fall and winter season than crowded waterfront promenades. Master of Balaton landscapes Zoltán Horváth is next in our series of Balaton talents.

  • Zoltán was a child when he first got his hands on a Soviet Zenit camera, but he only started to become more conscious about photography about eight years ago. Now he shoots with a DSLR camera
  • Landscape photos taken outside the summer season are his favorites – especially the ones from the beach. He’s a self-taught photographer, and he says he’s learned a lot from various sources on the internet as well as from online photo communities
  • Born in Keszthely, he used to spend a lot of his time at the beach. He’s still a Keszthely resident, but he often photographs Szigliget and the Balaton Uplands as well, both of which are a 20-minute car ride away
  • He says taking photos at Balaton is difficult: as the area is widely photographed, it’s not easy to produce unique images. We first discovered Zoltán’s landscape photos, and we swear they are more effective than a bottle of Xanax
  • Interested in seeing more of his photos? You can follow him on Facebook and Flickr. Long-exposure photography is the next thing he wants to learn, and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with
