The Amadinda percussion group was founded in 1984 by members who had met at the Academy of Music in Budapest. In addition to performing now classical percussion pieces, they have always placed special emphasis on inspiring composers worldwide; the composer giant John Cage, the minimalist Steve Reich, and the world-famous György Ligeti György have all composed for Amadinda.
The now 30-year-old group has cooperated with the likes of Péter Eötvös, Paul Hillier, Zoltán Kocsis, András Schiff, Éva Marton, György Kurtág, András Keller and James Wood. Amadinda today is considered by the profession as one of the most authentic percussion groups.
