An exceptional event organized by Bock Bistro Balaton and Festetics Helikon Taverna Cellar: winemaker legend István Szepsy from Mád will come to Vonyarcvashegy on November 28 for the first time ever.  

Menu  

  • Cold appetizer: goose liver terrine wrapped in smoked duck breast, with mixed salad and dressing
  • Warm appetizer: catfish a la Hadick
  • Main dish: mutton tenderloin with sultana croustade, sabayon and arancini
  • Dessert: Rákóczi curd cheese cake  
The wines will be presented by world-renowned winemakers István Szepsy. The wine dinner will feature a performance by the jazz duo Babos & Piller.

About the winery:  

“Our family has made wines in the Tokaj region from the 1500s; that’s when the sweet aszú wines were first made as well, so the history of the family and the wine are intertwined from the very beginning. Today’s generations are proud of the achievements of their forbearers, which encourage them to rise to the challenge of continuing their legacy. Our aim is to grow grapes of the highest possible quality on the vineyards, without compromise. That is one of the reasons we’ve picked steep, pebbly vineyards at higher altitudes – the average age is above 40. We select small, looser bunched of Furmint mainly on the Mád vineyards, and we are inspired by the desire to get to know our land to discover new plots in the regions of Bodrogkeresztúr, Tarcal, Mezőzombor, Rátka and Tállya."
