B My Lake kicks off on 18 August, with legendary disk jockeys, soul-shattering techno and carefree house, among other treats. We looked at radio rotations and our own playlists to pick ten of our favourite songs – we’ll tell you why we are so excited about the festival in Balatonvilágos.

dOP - Your Sex

20 August (Wednesday), 01:00, My Stage

Arguably the biggest (house) party of B My Lake is going to be hosted by Damian Vandesande, Jonathan Illel and Clement Aichelbaum, three guys from Paris. Even though dOP (Deep & Organic From Paris) is one of the best contemporary house acts, their superb record Watergate 06 already revealed traces of other genres, and house was entirely pushed to the background on their debut album Greatest Hits by jazz, blues, funk and techno. Their festival setlist will most probably comprise all the elements of the above mix, and if that is not enough proof for you, we’ll let you know that their cool live shows have been declared the best three times at the annual poll of Resident Advisor. If you are into contemporary house music or you like such representatives thereof as Wolf + Lamb, then don’t miss this one.

Andrey Pushkarev - Gingo Biloba

20 August (Wednesday), 16:00, My Stage

Andrey is one of the most renowned figures of the Russian deep-tech scene. He keeps adding new records to his several-thousand-strong collection every day, and he stands by every single piece. During his hypnotizing sets, which last for several hours, the DJ of deepmix.ru does not break character for a second or lose control of the pulsating vibe and the audience. Russia’s one true deep house ambassador is not only popular because of his hypnotic, swaying sets, but also because he can light any dance floor on fire by dropping a couple of well picked party bombs.

Modestep - Feel Good

19 August (Tuesday), 02:30, Lake Stage

Brutal, raw dubstep, shredding metal sounds, wall-shattering drops, twisted electronic segments – the main characteristics of the genre Modestep refers to as rockstep. The music of the four-piece act speaks to fans of The Prodigy and Skrillex, just like to those going crazy for Metallica and KoRn. Their first album Evolution Theory came out last year, and the songs on the record were on rotation not only on the pirate radio channels specializing in the most extreme tunes, but on the BBC as well. After a full line-up at Balaton Sound, this time only the founding Friend brothers will come with a DJ set.

Kollektiv Turmstrasse - Grillen Im Park

21 August (Thursday), 00:00, My Stage

Deer symbols everywhere, minimal techno, strings, vocals that get stuck in your ear, house/dub/tribal influences – this is the gist of the music created by Christian Hilscher and Nico Plagemann. Their tunes are for the brain as well as for the legs: pounding four-fours, downtempo rhythms intertwined with passionate vocals, and a rich fabric of electronic sound enhancing the soundtrack atmosphere. It comes as no surprise that their releases are included in the catalogues of such record labels as Sven Väth’s Cocoon, Solomun’s Diynamic or their own label called Musik Gewinnt Freunde. Stimulus for the brain, rhythm for the legs!

Add2Basket - Coming Back To Life (feat. Eszter Váczi)

19 August (Tuesday), 10:00, Sziget Lounge

András Genser, aka Add2Basket, is a real music fanatic and a passionate collector of records. He has recently talked to the Tesla team about this latter addiction, and his selection reveals that it is impossible to predict what he will play on the Balaton shore: pan-erotic disco from Uruguay, dubby disco from Italy or funk from Asia. Our DJ ambassador, who was there when Neston rádió was born, is one of the current residents of Planet Love online radio and has an eponymous record label (Add2Basket Records) – it is clear he has plenty of inspiration. A journey around the skull of one of our most versatile DJs.

Danny Tenaglia - Bottom Heavy

18 August (Monday), 23:00, B Stage

The iconic figure of the golden age of progressive club music, who has played at every venue from Paradise Garage to The Womb, and to say that his all-night sets are legendary is an understatement. Danny Tenaglia has gone even further than Andrey Pushkarev, entertaining his audience for up to 8-10 hours with his unique tribal house mixes. If you need to catch up with his work, put on his mix record Back To Basics with eclectic, Frankie Knuckles- and Larry Levan-style disco and dark, overwhelming, hypnotizing house. Start preparing yourselves now, because he’ll bring an all-night set to B My Lake as well.

Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers (The Magician Remix)

21 August (Thursday), 22:30, My Stage

An ex-member of the Belgian nu disco duo Aeroplane, who is behind The Magic Tapes mix series, and who can even pull off a stunt like turning a pain-filled ballad of Lykke Li into a light disco hit. The magician of sexy music comes to Hungary once again! Last year at the sixth birthday of Kollektiva he blew the audience away with elegant house, laid back and carefree pop and top-quality disco. Since then he has released a cool Clean Bandit remix and an original track that is definitely dance-floor worthy, among other things. Pack a pair of loafers along with your tuxedo.

L.A.S. - Za Lasem

21 August (Thursday), 14:00, Akvárium Terasz

After leaving the cultic Polish space-rock band Ścianka in 2005, Jacek Lachowicz started working on his next project called L.A.S., which is technically an ode to synthesizers. The older and more analogue, the better. Those with an untrained ear might feel that listening to his tracks is like being in an imaginary space simulator. While Lachowicz Audio System lacks the rock-infused moments of Jacek’s previous band, it will still sweep you away and suck you in.

Marcel Dettmann - Seduction (feat. Emika)

19 Augusztus (Tuesday), 01:45, B Stage

Marcel Dettmann has been a resident at Berghain since the beginnings – it would be impossible to start this section with a more impressive letter of recommendation. The name of the Berlin club has become synonymous with the renaissance of techno and the massive, brutal, industrial sound represented by OstGut Ton, whose catalogue is full of Dettmann classics. In his sets he fuses the old and new musical styles of the Chicago-Manchester-Detroit triangle in a way only the best can, creating depressing, brutal, metallic, but still liberating sounds. A must for techno fans.

Ben Klock - Subzero

21 August (Thursday), 00:30, B Stage

Who else could follow Dettmann, than one of the past decade’s most important figures in techno, who is also closely associated with Berghain and the raw, compact and elemental sound it represents. It hits you like a ton of bricks – you’ll know what we are talking about if you have heard his mix record Berghain 06, which is a memorable one, to say the least. However, it wouldn’t be fair to say that this is all there is to his music, this hypnotic-dynamic bomb, which is characterized by a kind of industrial bleakness and minimalism spiced up with an intuitive mix of uplifting melodies. This could be the soundtrack to your most intense moments on the dance floor or to the black-and-white cyberpunk movie in your head.
