The paying beach of Balatonberény is like most other Balaton beaches: its landscape is dominated by the ubiquitous blue giant slide. Everything you’d expect to find at the best beaches around the lake is available her: you can rent a pedal boat or a kayak, and grab a traditional lángos with cheese and sour cream, Hungarian crepes with cocoa powder, or a hearty hamburger at one of the many food stands. The beach not only attracts water fans, but also high praise: it has received the prestigious Blue Wave Flag (awarded to the most excellent beaches of Balaton) on several occasions, and in 2015 it was distinguished with a special prize for being a bike-friendly location.
The beach of Berény is on the south shore, so the water is pretty shallow; consequently, it’ll probably be a favorite haunt of families with small kids – not to mention that there’s a playground and a children’s pool as well. Those who want to relax should head for the shaded, quieter groves, while more active beachgoers can have fun with the outdoor fitness equipment, the giant chessboard, or the beach volleyball court. Sports themed and various other kinds of events are regularly held here on summer weekends.
