When visiting an average look-out tower, first you have to climb a hill then take a flight of curvy stairs to the top of the tower to gaze at the gorgeous panorama. Surprisingly visiting Szépkilátó in Balatongyörök is a merciful journey: there is no hill, no tower, but the view is still amazing.
You will find Szépkilátó after Balatongyörök, where main road 71 turns towards the Badacsony and the Balaton Bike Ring leaves the shore. It is just a resting point near the road with a parking lot, a few benches and a small green area. The view is worth the visit: Balaton is spread out in front of you surrounded by the hills of the north shore on one side, and the hills of Fonyód on the other.
Tip: Right next to Szépkilátó, there is Golfclub Imperial Balaton, where you can play golf with the same awesome landscape in front of you.
