The roughly 8 km long shore that belongs to Balatonmáriafürdő has a total of seven beaches. The westernmost one of them all, which also has the biggest grassy area, is Zagytér Public Beach.
The target audience is pretty much a cross section of large families and nonconformists: the modestly equipped beach has shallow waters, which make it perfect for small children. There’s a sand pit and a playground, but the bathroom section is just a bunch of mobile toilets, so it could be quite disappointing for those with higher standards.
In 2015, the operators of the beach started construction on an artificial turf football field, and had lots of shady benches installed as well. What could make this place even better? The ice cream parlor that cooked up the Balaton ice cream of the year in 2014 is two blocks away.
