The empire of János Csere advertises itself as a brick gallery and farm, but these two names don’t exactly reflect all the sights and sounds you can experience here.

Uncle János built a multi-story museum, monument, and a bell tower from rare bricks on the three hectares of land next to Balatonboglár, while also creating a historical memorial park next to these.

In addition to the oddities, Uncle János also raises horses, sheep, mangalica, rabbits, and poultry. He collected almost all existing Hungarian varieties of plants at the Gecsemáni Garden, which is full of surprises.

Tip: There’s no entry fee, but they’re happy if you bring some bricks with you instead, and it’s good to make an appointment in advance just to make sure that the most authentic and funniest guide, Uncle János himself will be the one to take you on a tour of his republic of Bugaszeg.
