The Roman Catholic Church of Balatonfüred is one of the symbolic buildings of the town, not least because of its two, 35-meter tall towers. Known colloquially as “Red Church”, the church was built from the new red sandstone found in abundance in the surrounding area.

The foundation stone of the building was laid by Bishop Nándor Rott in October 1926. Erected in place of an old inn, the Neo-Romanesque edifice was dedicated to Christ the King. The scene of the last supper is painted above the altar, while the wooden podium is adorned with a carving of Saint John the Baptist.
