Thanks to the cooperation of the Balatonszárszó community, this outdoor cinema turned theatre opened as Csukás Theatre in 2011. “I feel like all the love I’ve given over the past decades is coming back to me now,” said István Csukás, the creator of beloved characters like Mirr-Murr, Pom Pom and Süsü, the dragon, at the opening ceremony. He’s definitely proved worthy of being born on the same day as Hans Christian Andersen.
The audience is mostly made up of kids, and the schedule of the summer season is usually filled with children’s shows, but the puppet performances and concerts will provide all generations with plenty of diversion. Located right on the waterfront, the kids’ theatre has its own bicycle parking facility – a unique feature you won't find in other similar establishments anywhere in the entire country.
