If you prefer castle ruins that are as abandoned as can be, you should definitely visit the ruins of Essegvár in Bánd. A stone castle was erected in the 14th century in place of the original wooden structure, but today only a dilapidated tower remains.
A short, yet steep hiking trail takes you from the village to the ruins where you can enjoy the proximity of nature on the football field-sized, flat limestone cliff.
