Hydraulic engineer Dezső Káli Nagy was entrusted with the supervision of marinas around Balaton in 1912, and a year later the dock of Fonyód was completed. (It’s worth noting that most of the marinas around the lake were built based on his plans and instructions.)

Colloquially known as “Bagolyvár”, the once imposing building was restored a century later, and in the summer of 2015, the legendary, long pier was also renovated. Due to its central location, the stop is a stone’s throw away from several food stands, the beach, the railway station, and the marina.

Tip: The only boat stop you can travel to from here is the one is Badacsony. The trip takes 25 minutes, but if you’re in a hurry, you can hop on the watertaxi.
