Built in the 11th and 12th centuries, the church has belonged to different communities over the years ranging from Turks, Jesuits and members of the Reformed Church to Catholics, eventually returning into the hands of the Reformed community in 1737.

Stepping inside the ancient edifice crowned by a stunning spherical vault, you are immediately transported back in time to the 18th century, but some of the decorative tablecloths were made in the 1980s by the ladies of the Almádi embroidery circle.

The church is one of the iconic locations used in the film Balaton Method: it is where the unique performance of Soerii & Poolek and Szabi Papp takes place.

Tip: If you’re ever in Almádi or the surrounding area, don’t miss the Szent Jobb Chapel or the Óvári Observation Tower, which has a stunning view of the Fűzfői-öböl.
