Sited in the center of Veszprém’s Castle District, Gizella Chapel is one of the oldest landmarks of the town, and was presumably built based on the commission of Bishop Robertus in the 13th century. The chapel was renovated in Baroque style in the 18th century, but the original Romanesque elements were restored in 1938.

What makes Gizella Chapel extra special are the unique keystones of the domes and the Byzantine frescos dating back to the time of the building’s construction.

Tip: If you’re strolling down Vár utca, make sure to visit the Cathedral Basilica of St MichaelDubniczay Palace and the Fire Lookout Tower. Click here to take a look around the chapel.
