Keszthely is the biggest town on the north shore of Balaton’s western basin; its boat stop opened in 1847 as one of the first of its kind around the lake. Being a public boat stop, this is the origin station of party shipskids’ ships and cruise ships operated by the Balaton Shipping Company.

Those thinking about renting a boat here should keep in mind that there’s an extensive reef 200-300 metres off the pier in a north-eastern direction, and the surrounding waters are roughly 1.5 m deep. Northerly winds generate quite unpleasant waves, revealing the main fault of the marina: no boat mooring here is shielded from this disadvantageous effect.
