The old observation tower on top of Somlyó-hegy was in such bad shape that it eventually had to be closed to visitors in order to avoid accidents. Luckily, the town of Alsóörs received funds from an EU tender, and had the structure renovated in 2015, so visitors can now admire the stunning panorama from up above without any safety issues. Peeking out from behind the surrounding trees, the roof of the 17.5-meter, pentagon-shaped building can be seen from far away. A small arboretum with rare plant species and footpaths is located on the more gently sloping side of the hill. To reach to very top, you’ll have to take the stairs running from the Reformed church all the way along the local cemetery, but don't worry: there are plenty of benches for you to rest on on the upward trek.
