Found in the center of Szentbékkálla, at 13 Kossuth Street, the barn of Borbély House is home to a small, but valuable museum established and run by Ferenc Oltárczi, a retired teacher, who entertains his visitors with amazing stories.
The exhibition provides an insight into viticulture, agriculture, hemp, flax, and wool processing, lumbering, and animal husbandry. You can see a variety of household items traditionally used in the region, and learn more about the life of the peasant class. The collection was put together based on one criterion: everything had to come from the village.
Tip: If Uncle Feri is not in Szentbékkálla, you can sign up for a visit at the village caretaker. Entry to this museum is free of charge, as well as it is to the village museum, which is also curated by Uncle Feri.
