Since 2007 one building has stood out from the characteristic houses of Bakonybél: a robust 21st century structure called Pannon Csillagda (Observatory). The difference in style between the observatory and its surroundings may seem huge, but the modern building serves a wide range of visitors. The professionally equipped center attracts scientists and kids groups as well. Due to the lack of light pollution, the observatory is particularly suitable for research and scientific work. At the same time it serves as an adventure park, too, as is has everything from an LVR and a planetarium to an interactive exhibition to boost the dedication of young cosmologists.
