Tihany Sailing Club can be found about a kilometre south of the Tihany ferry. Its neat marina can accommodate up to 70 sailing boats, but SUP boards and other vehicles capable of floating on the water are also welcome. Every berth comes with water and electricity hook-ups, and the fenced, sandy beach is full of toys for the little ones. THE Bar, which is situated at the end of the pier, is a truly exclusive venue for drinks – it is accessible for anyone from the direction of the water, but keep in mind that only club members are allowed to enter on dry land.
Open every day from the middle of June, the bar has a terrace with a splendid view of the Balaton Uplands, Tihany’s hill and, in clear weather, almost the entirety of the eastern basin. This is an important venue in the life of the local sailing community, and this is where those interested can watch the youngest members of the clubs during training – THE is one of the most prominent sailing organizations in terms of youth training. Even if it’s only a fröccs or a mug of draft Hoegaarden that you are after, you’ll probably be pretty pleased to learn that the bar sometimes hosts surprise parties with floating tea lights and live music.
