Hungary’s Tibetan Cultural Centre can be found amid the vineyards of Balatonkeresztúr. Called Rabten Tashi Ling meaning garden of good fortune in Tibetan, the centre opened its gates for believers and intrigued visitors in the year of the millennium.

Comprising eight buildings and a temple, the modest meditation centre of the world-scale religious community led by the Dalai Lama is a promoter of Tibetan-Hungarian relations in honour of Sándor Kőrösi Csoma. Buddhist ceremonies are conducted twice a day, and the multilingual monks are happy to share their knowledge about Buddhist meditation.

If you feel like staying a bit longer, you can find accommodation in one of the guest houses. Seven houses with fully outfitted kitchen stand among Balatonkeresztúr’s vineyards where anyone can retreat into nature to enjoy the Balaton panorama and the peaceful and idyllic atmosphere.
