In spring, Vaszary Villa brings you two amazing exhibitions: one focusing on works by Picasso and photos by Jean Cocteau, and another of Robert Capa's photos.
The exhibition of the drawings by the avant garde genius, Pablo Picasso and photos by the poet/director Jean Cocteau opens in the first week of March. The displayed Picassos are objects, paintings, and drawings from Hungarian and American private collections, as well as from the Museum of Fine Arts, including ones that had never been exhibited in Hungary before. The exhibition includes documents and early videos as well.
The cca. 30 photos by Cocteau taken at the time of WWI bring back shared moments of the great personalities of avant garde. You can spot determining figures of art on these photos, such as Amedeo Modigliani, Max Jacob and Moise Kisling. The photos were taken in and around Café de la Rotonde, in Carrefour Vavin-en (today named after Picasso), a few weeks after Cocteau's return from the Belgian front.
