Pál Kinizsi had the monastery built in the 15th century in the vicinity of the castle bearing his name. It is a special monument because its present sorry condition is not only due to age – it was blown up during the Turkish invasion to prevent it from being used as a fort by the enemy.

The surrounding area has several other medieval ruins too: there's the aforementioned castle, which houses a museum, the ruins of Szent András Church in Taliándörögd and Zádorvár in Pécsely.

Climbing the hills of the Balaton Uplands is not only worthwhile because of the ancient and romantic ruins; the panorama is pretty magical too.
