The distinct menu of Tilia Borvendéglő (“Tilia Wine Restaurant”) on Római Road, right in the heart of Badacsony, makes it stand out from the usual Badacsony-selection. Formerly known as Hárskert, meaning Linden Garden – tilia is the scientific name of lindens –, the kitchen of this well-known place is dominated by game meat since 2018. Furnished with modern design elements, the basalt-walled cellar provides shelter in winter and summer for everyone, not just the guests of Hotel Neptun, which is in the same building, while in the spacious garden we can watch the nearby mini-golfers from the shade of trees.
Led by chef Mózes Farkas, the kitchen’s menu includes the likes of wild boar tenderloin and pheasant soup, with the mouflon of Bakony and the sturgeon of Keszthely representing the region. The name wine restaurant isn’t just a fancy term here, as the wine-list is dominated by the new generation of winemakers from around Badacsony: besides the Szászi sparkling wine, they also have wines from wineries like Sabar, Bencze, Laposa, and 2HA.
Tip: Before making reservations, check out the current offers, especially during the off season, as they often have wine dinners with hikes during that time.
