The renowned magazine traveled to Lake Balaton for a quick gastro-trip in the serenity of the off-season. The spots they visited will sound familiar to north shore aficionados, and inviting to those who haven’t explored the exciting destinations of the area yet. Published on their website, Vogue’s article leaves no doubt: Balaton is definitely in fashion this season.
We just recently rounded up all the possibilities Balaton has to offer in spring, and now the online edition of the American Vogue presented a glorious north shore gastro-tour we can take around this time of the year. It’s rare that such a prestigious foreign magazine praises Lake Balaton – for now; We Love Balaton accompanied CNN’s journalist a few years ago, and last year Saveur published an article about the wonderful white wines of Somló.
And then Vogue visited. Judit Szauer, the creator of Balaton Gastro Map took the journalist of the American magazine to eight locations. Besides commemorating the great restaurants that stay open even during off-season, the article also mentions the intertwined retro vibes and elegant rusticity that dominates the atmosphere of Balaton. The article also observes that even though you can definitely visit Central-Europe’s largest freshwater lake for some well deserved beach-time, it’s also worth a trip even when the water is still too cold to splash.
The tour takes readers to the following locations:
- Bistro Sparhelt
- Kredenc Wine Bistro
- Gilvesy Winery
- Laposa Winery
- Homola Winery
- Bergmann Confectionery
- Kővirág
- Káli Art Inn
